Positive Affirmations. I know you're probably tired of seeing this and thinking "That doesnt even work for me!" But, Research shows thatthe way you think about yourself can have a big effect on how you feel. For example, When we view ourselves negatively, all we see is the negative, which brings us down. Self-affirmation can also lower stress (Koole et al., 1999; Weisenfeld et al., 2001). It can mean drawing a quick cartoon, or taking a 20 minute nap, playing a game on your phone, or even eating. the possibilities are endless when it ocmes to this option. The goal is to feel relaxed and ready to tackle whatever it is you're doing by the time you're done with your break. There's no limit, so you set the activity and how long you'll do it for.
Writing, or typing is one of the most therapeautic things that I, and many of my friends have used to calm down and get rid of stress. This method is pretty self explanatory. Grab a piece of paper, a writing utencil, and write! Or, if you're going to type, grab whatever device it is that you'll use to type with, go to the application that you like (notes app, google docs, etc.), and type away
Talking out your stress is surprisingly helpful in reducing your stress. To vent, you don't always have to vent to someone, you can actually talk to yourself! It may sound weird, but it's actually very helpful if you have nobody around or if your friend isn't available for you to talk to them. You can even vent to a stuffed animal if you like.
